Strength to continue our journey
One of the evil inclination’s tools to weaken our minds is to show us our spiritual level and bad traits. He can also show us how ungrateful we are and instill a depressed and anxious feeling in us.
When feeling this way, we must keep in the forefront of our minds what Rebbe Nachman teaches us.
Rebbe Nachman explains, once we are in the midst of doing our part and making our personal effort to be better, then G-d no longer judges us the same way.
Whether we are working on gratitude or fixing our bad traits, the advice is still the same.
As long as we are on the path of ‘trying’ and ‘wanting’ to be better, then G-d does not judge us according to our true reality’s level. Rather, we are judged according to where we want to be.
If we want to be less angry and ask G-d for help in this aspect, then in His eyes, we are already less angry. Or if we are finding it hard to be grateful, due to all that we go through in life and on a daily basis, don’t despair and don’t look down. G-d knows exactly where we are and the trials and tribulation that we endure. He doesn’t expect us to be anything more then what we are while on the path of growth.
This is one of the most important posts and lessons in our service of G-d and spiritual growth
Most of our depression and anxiety comes from a little thought that flew through our mind but managed to weave its way into our entire life.
The thought of – “well, I’m trying to grow and be grateful, but once I found out how much I have not been grateful for and how much more there is to go, I became sad and depressed.”
Rebbe Nachman gives us the most important tool in our life. It is called retzonot – will and desire.
No matter how we view ourselves, even if we are far from our goal in spirituality – as long as we want and we are on the journey to be closer then G-d considers us already there.
