Checking in with our Mindless expressions
Today let’s bring some focus into our daily mindless expressions, expressions which affect our mood and the way we feel inside. These mindless expressions affect our lives and we usually don’t even realize it.
If we take a moment during the day to stop and look in the mirror – what is our current expression? Even without a mirror, we can spend a moment to think about the expressions and feelings that we are showing on our faces.
Sometimes we will find a frown glued on or our cheeks can hurt and eyebrows feel heavy. We are mindlessly filled with anxiety and stress.
Radiating negativity to those around us and, most importantly, filling ourselves with it too.
Today’s exercise is to turn that frown upside-down!
When we smile, even if it is not a real smile, our body releases chemicals into our brain. These chemicals increase our energy levels and positivity throughout. We can feel the effect immediately as soon as we try this. By doing so we can free up some headspace and fill it up with positive feelings. Enabling our path to gratitude easier and more efficient.
Take a minute off and try to bring your mind in to focus on your expressions. With a simple smile, we have the ability to transform our day into a positive one.
Rebbe Nachman teaches us that the most important thing in our lives is happiness. To obtain any sort of happiness, even for a moment, we must do whatever is necessary. He goes on to explain, even if we need to act a little silly or make a few jokes, we should do whatever it takes.
Just put on a smile and get that happy chemical flowing in our brain.
